Welcome to FIRST Team 1023, Bedford Express!
We are FIRST robotics team 1023, Bedford Express, and we are delightfully starting our 11th year in the FRC program. Each year we get a new challenge and through the years there have been a variety of themes from soccer to the moon and back. This year our challenge is called Ultimate ascent and yes, you guessed it, it’s all about Frisbee’s.
We’ve been competing for 11 years now, but what you don’t know is what we have accomplished. In our first year, in 2003, we won the Rookie All-Star award which honors a rookie team on outstanding work outside of just the robot competition. A noticeable award we won is the Engineering excellence. This award celebrates an elegant and advantageous machine feature. Last year we won this award for the first time in our history. We won it at the Livonia district and competed for it at the worlds level. In 2010 we won our first competition, last year we won our third in a row. We received 8 awards last year, none of these could’ve been possible without the help of our amazing mentors, coaches, past team members and of course our wonderful sponsors!
